Aha Studio was tasked with designing a custom home in Indian Shores Florida, that takes advantage of the views of the water (the Gulf and inter-coastal). The home design had to be tall enough to allow some view of the Gulf across the road and great views to the private waterway in the back, and enough privacy along the sides and front to block out neighbors and the busy street. The owner also wanted a pool in the backyard, rectangular with the long side paralleling the seawall. The owner wanted to keep the size of the house at around 3,000 to 3,200 square feet. All levels of the house were build with concrete masonry units (CMU) with wooden trusses in some vaulted areas, with plans for an elevator in the future.
